Porterville is the ideal weekend getaway for anyone living in and around Cape Town! 🌱
Just 1.5 hours drive from the hustle and bustle will land you in a small town that has a village charm that hides a lot to keep you entertained for a weekend... or let you just kick back and relax.
You can spend your time hiking waterfalls at 22Waterfalls (camping and chalets available too), enjoying the great outdoors at the famous Beaverlac or enjoy delicious pizza at Indie Ale Craft Brewery. If you are after a more sporty weekend, try paragliding in South Africa's top-rated paragliding spot managed by our wonderful Porterville Flyers' Lodge. We even have a golf course designed by the legendary Gary Player for you to enjoy at our local Porterville Golf Club.
If you are on a more artistic pursuit... Porterville is really for you! Filled with talented folk, you can visit numerous artists (mostly on appointment) like Andre du Toit, JP Meyer and Carin Dorrington Ceramics. The interesting Die mosaiek huis is open for tours with Christel Griffiths which is always fun. You can also let your creative juices flow with ceramic workshops hosted at Ronel Bakker Keramiek.
If you prefer having little day drives, you can visit a working protea farm at Berghoff Fynbos Farm & Chalets (chalets available too) and take a drive into the wonderful Groot Winterhoek reserve run by CapeNature.
Don't forget to start off your weekend with a trip to the market (open every Saturday from 9am to 2pm with a free 5km "Farm Run and Walk at 7:30am) to enjoy the best breakfast/brunch before enjoying all Porterville has to offer.
